Over the Heat and Counting Down to Fall
It’s been brutal out there. We’re talking 39°C with the humidex, the kind of heat that makes you question why you even bothered to shower. The humidity is the worst part, thick, sticky air that clings to you like a second skin. Every movement turns into a full on sweat session, and honestly, I’m over it.
Even my dog is over it. Normally, we’d be out for our daily walks, enjoying the fresh air, but right now? Nope. It’s just not safe for her paws or her health in this kind of heat. She’s been giving me those “are you serious?” looks anytime I even glance at the leash.
And don’t get me started on cooking. The second I turn on the stove, the kitchen transforms into a sauna, even with the air conditioner running. I swear the AC is trying its best, but it’s just no match for boiling pots and a scorching oven. Dinner lately has been whatever I can throw together without adding more heat. Think salads, sandwiches, and anything that comes straight from the fridge.
I’m officially done with summer. Bring me the crisp, cool days of fall. The cozy sweaters, the fresh air that actually feels breathable, and the comfort of knowing you can take your dog for a walk without worrying about heatstroke.
If only fall temperatures could stick around all year… I’d sign that petition in a heartbeat.
